I think that the older Scouts in my first troop had a knot fetish. We spent all of our time at Scout meetings tying different varieties of knots and applying our neckerchief's to every conceivable first aid emergency.
Of course, they had nothing on the "deckies" at the Merchant Marine Academy. Making and splicing ropes seemed a full-time occupation. Most of them couldn't throw a monkey fist to save their lives though, much less tie a one-handed bowline. ;)

let's go back to a time when tying knots and earning badges was serious business.
...ya never know when the day might come where you find yourself hanging off a cliff to a rope, and only have one hand to tie a bowline! ;)
Very true!
I'll keep practicing my one-handed tying techniques...in the meanwhile you keep your backpack full of life-saving gadgets handy. ;-)
All I need is a neckerchief! ;)
