Well the pill changed everything in 1960. It's taken a while to erase the pre-sexual revolution cultural conditions that had dominated the relationship between the sexes before then. As Lacan said, "there is no sexual relation". In 1960, the clown-world was unleashed...
It has certainly made it harder to maintain the old "nuclear family"... a lifestyle I now "choose" to maintain (out of sheer stubborness). Acta non verba! ;)
ps - I agree, women now have all the options that men always had. Only, it's difficult even for women to find any stable relationships. I look at my daughter, and all I see is her fobo... She's a high-social-status lawyer with few socially "acceptable" mating options (higher status than her own). And those few "alpha's" that she must choose for have no reasons at all to settle down with one woman (as all women are available to them). It's a sad situation. She needs to "settle" for a lower-social-class man. And she get's NO social cues that allow her to do that. :(

In 1960, the pill free'd women. In 1973, Roe v. Wade/Abortion free'd men. And from here on out, it's anybody's ball game.
