Autumn Breeze

We just had a cold front, blow in, complete with thunder and rain for the next few days. I'm so ready for cooler weather.
On a different note: I never imagined my county would look like this. I never imagined a lot of things. I'm in denial. How are you??

That was me. Not sure why it was anonymous.

We've already had frost, but it was warm again for Halloween. Had more kids visit the house for trick or treating this year than normal... the neighborhood is changing over again. I suppose I am once again a bit in awe of "youth".

We're doing well. The politics has gotten very crazy, and I think this is my last round. I watched a great video on election theory, and I think I'll take professor Moeller's advice and become a political agnostic. I no longer believe in the system or its' so-called fairness.

How about you? Still have another getaway adventure in the works? Don't forget to post pictures. That way I can enjoy your experience vicariously.

I'm still a little moody this morning... All Saints Day/ Dia de los Muertos. The Diwali lights are fading, I suppose. I haven't seen my Ukrainian poster for a few weeks, I'm hoping he's okay. I think he's part of a propaganda effort, and that they might be under an "election season" blackout (best case speculation). I miss him, he was fun/funny and bright guy. maybe he'll be back after Nov 5. If not, I'll really start to wonder...

Well, I suppose I should get back to reading the news. Have great week!

In pursuit of political releasement...

Hmmm political agnostic is a great descriptor.
I'm genuinely shocked right now. Watching election results, Trump 211, Harris 153. I don't get it. They're saying black male voters have made a huge difference voting for Trump. If that's true, it's hellish for several reasons.
I don't think I believe in this country the way I once did. I had such a deep patriotism and pride in being American. Now I'm just ashamed.

Now is a great time to plan a vacation. I would love to spend a few months in Italy. 3 months, because that's all they'll allow. I just want to have quiet solitude. Look for beach glass, eat good food and drink wine. Walk all over. Try speaking to the locals. Read every day. Observe. Rest.

That's a fantasy at this point. I'm wanting to go back to Zambia next August. The flight stops in Paris on the way home and I would like to stay a couple weeks there. But August would be so damn hot.

No travel plans finalized for the immediate future. I might need to fix that very soon.

I'm a little shocked this morning as well. I went to bed early. The turnout appears to have been the main factor. A lot less people went to the polls this year than in 2020.

August in France... isn't everyone at the beach?

France experiences a summer shutdown in the form of a cultural tradition of taking the entire month of August off from work. This tradition is known as Les Grandes vacances, which begins on August 1.

I've only been to Spain, Andorra, Gibraltar and Portugal (Iberia) in Europe... and I was too young to remember much more than the castles, apes, and cork trees. I "saw" Africa from the top of Gibraltar... but never been.

Well, I hope you plan something fantastic! As for me, I'll be staying close to home. Kathy has an exploratory surgery coming up in another couple of weeks to collect some biopsy samples from her last ultrasound... but we're keeping our fingers crossed. So far the gene therapy's been working well, but it might be a return of a form of her earlier, but also medically treated cancer. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

I'll keep Kathy in my thoughts, and thank you for letting me know. I think of y'all often and wonder how she's doing. I'll be thinking about you both, and I pray for the best news possible.

Thanks. We're trying to take it all one day at a time, ichigo ichie style... "this too will pass". :)

...and try getting out of your head for a while. I know I do.

Me and my dogs have some "pack rituals" for that. ;)
