on the way back from our trip back "home", i had a flat tire. we had already been driving for 6 hours.
i pulled over on the widest shoulder i'd ever seen. (thankful)
despite our best efforts, the lug nuts were stuck. i called roadside assistance. as he quickly replaced the tire (thankful), i reached for my wallet to give him a tip. it was gone. i called the cafe we stopped at two hours earlier....they had it. (THANKFUL) at this point, i started crying. the kids thought i'd finally lost it, but i was so overwhelmed with gratitude that i just cried. they mailed it the next day, and it arrived that night. i cried again. (thankful)
I'm happy things turned out okay. I know the feeling of reaching for my wallet, or a credit card, and discovering its' absence. On more than one occasion I've had to retrace my footsteps and, knock on wood, very time I've recovered what I had misplaced.
I suppose that overall, the world has more blessings than curses in it. And if not, well, I guess I'm just going to have to insist upon regarding such as the truth.
I remember the first time that I had ever lost my wallet was at Disneyland when I was six. It came back to me about a month later, with $3 in it. There are a lot of good people out there.
ps - I've been watching Yellowstone and 1883 on tv. Seeing Texas makes me think of you. Happy holidays!
I LOVE that someone put cash in it!! I watched the first episode of Yellowstone and I think I will subscribe to watch the rest. I heard that the last season was filmed at the 6666 Ranch, which is about 2 hours west of me. It's beautiful country, on the way to my hometown. I love that it brought me to mind for you.
Check out How to Be a Cowboy on Netflix. It was filmed near us, about two hours west. Makes me wanna be a cowboy..;-)

Sounds like a theme of 1883... :)
I heard they're spinning off a series on the 6666....

.
I'll definitely be watching that one! I heard the 1883 spin-off is too violent.
If I'm going to time travel, it's going to be 1700s Scotland in Outlander!
You just like Jamie/Gingers...
:)
