Well that was creepy. I'm assuming that even though The Red Book wasn't published until 2009, it was well known at the time that Kubrick made The Shining? This video made good sense to me. That movie has always scared the crap out of me, mostly because it is so terribly irrational, but if it really is based on Jung's concept of the hypnogogic state... Well it becomes much more "logical"!
Apparently, an excerpt of the Red Book was circulated by Jung starting in early 1916, so I'm sure it's existence was widely known within the Jungian community.
...although it may be doubtful that Kubrik's "Red Book" was there intentionally on the desk in "The Shining" as a "cookie" and nod to the Jungian "Red Book" vs. the hospitality industries "Red Book".
