The Bowie Process - Heroes

I cry nearly every time I watch a Bowie documentary. I can't figure out why I feel so connected to someone I never met, will never meet, etc.

I really like to learn about artists, and how they live. He seemed to have lived so fully, and so creatively. He was definitely always ahead of everyone else...

I listened to Low earlier in the week and it blew me away. It's just amazing. Sometimes music touches something so deep inside.

After listening to his earliest albums, I can hear repeating sounds, even into his last recordings. i.e. in The Man Who Sold the World, there's this background track where he's singing a haunting, non-lyrical melody. It seems to thread through several albums, and it's very noticeable in Black Star.

I just wish I had those master tapes and could mix up the songs a thousand different ways... especially with Black Star. It's like writing music for orchestras.... generating one layer at a time.

Very cool.

Bowie's music brings back so many memories.
