It wasn't the best, from my own perspective, but it was memorable. My wife is still unable to put any weight on her ankle, so I had the honour of preparing the turkey and fixings. We ate in the bedroom (something we never do) and chit-chatted about the kids. It was a quiet day.
I am growing impatient with the wife's condition, however. It's not easy working and taking care of her. I look forward to her next doctors visit and hold out hope that she'll acquire some more mobility.
I'm anticipating that she'll be allowed to put a limited amount of weight on her ankle in a few weeks, and we'll be able to get rid of the transfer bench we use to get her in and out of the house and shower, and she'll have an easier time going up and down the stairs (all bedrooms are on the second floor).
Well, enough complaining. I suspect I'll have a lot more to be thankful for next Thanksgiving...
Remind me what happened with her ankle? I know she had surgery, but what was her original injury?
My Thanksgiving was fantastically uneventful. I drove to Lubbock, but stopped to camp for two nights on the way. That time away from phones, computers, PEOPLE, obligations, and noise, really has become necessary for me to regain some sense of balance. I got to see nearly every member of my extended family, which was a rare treat! Then, I camped again on the way home. :-)
She stepped on some uneven ground in our back yard and fell about six month's ago. We thought it was just a sprain, but evidently was worse because it never got "better".
PS- Camping. Wow! That's something I haven't done in ages.... but I must admit, is the perfect way to get away from the day to day! You take your little pop-up?
Oh I hate that. Ankle and foot injuries are so slow to heal, because it's next to impossible to stay non-weight bearing long enough for healing to occur. I hope she has good news with the next doc appt.
Yes, I do take my pop-up! I'm done with tent camping. My pop-up is easy to tow and has a little kitchen, so it's perfect.

I hope your Thanksgiving was a good one, FJ.

Sounds like fun. It used to be such a chore after every camping trip airing out the tent and sleeping bags...
I really haven't bothered since my oldest left the Boy Scouts.
