Colour the Mundane, "Maple Leaves/Make-Beliefs"Northern arc and all the sleeping cars, the sleeping pills
by this horseshoe road tucked in maple leaves/make-beliefs
A talisman that gave an end, time to amend
from the steepest quarter since I arrived, I survived
I force myself to sleep
and sway into those dreams
where I tip-toe on pine trees
swept up by the breeze
Everyday I go to work and then back home
eat my meal, go to sleep and start again
I've got a black dog named Izzie and she's the only one
who understands, without a word, undeterred
I force myself to sleep
and sway into those dreams
where I tip-toe on pine trees
swept up by the breeze

Oh I love these lyrics.
I dread winter...
(and it's MILD here!)
I love his guitar.
I dread the dark that winter brings...
the one I walk into into the morning...
and drive home from in the evening.
The entire day lost to darkness. :(
The sentiment is echoed in this poem which sounds even better in original:
The Most Dangerous
Most treacherous is not the robbery
of hard earned wages
Most horrible is not the torture by the police.
Most dangerous is not the graft for the treason and greed.
To be caught while asleep is surely bad
surely bad is to be buried in silence
But it is not most dangerous
...
Most dangerous is
To be filled with dead peace
Not to feel agony and bear it all,
Leaving home for work
And from work return home
Most dangerous is the death of our dreams.
~Paash
...Or maybe it was really about winter. ;)
Now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer by this Duke of York! :)
heh. How are you, fj? In the spate of videos and learned commentaries the most important question somehow never gets asked.
Still missing my dog, I'm afraid. They really can become our "best friends". And despite the nuisance, I actually miss her ringing the bells to go outside, and spending those 3-5 minute "breaks" outside with her. My other dog is paper trained, and so I generally only take her out once in the morning, and again when I return from work in the evening. :(
I am sorry, fj. I didn't realize you were missing her so. :(
Philosophy, Socrates famously said, is the preparation for death. For, once you come to terms with death (as neither good nor evil but something inevitable), you come to terms with life as well. Therefore, do not grieve, my friend!
Yes but love is love. Love is to discriminate, to raise one above indifference towards the many, and animosity towards the few...
...and I'm no longer grieving so much as adjusting to an "absence". I took my other dog, Isabel for a nice walk this morning. It felt good, and I think it did her some good, too.
hmm. I would say philosophy is to dicriminate, to know what is in one's hand (to grieve or not to grieve) and what isn't (death.)
But i understand what you mean about "absence". Sometimes i think loneliness isn't so much the absence of many as the absence of "the one."
:)

Thank you both for the concern and the hugs. :)
This isn't fair. I want hugs, too. ;)
ooohkay. (((nicrap)))
(big baby... :-)
The weather is finally cooling down here. I wore jeans this weekend! Maybe even shoes instead of sandals today! ahhh.... I love it.
It's the little things that we have to celebrate, you guys.
Sorry for my absence lately...I've been sick with allergies. How is it that some people never experience a single symptom, and some of us can't go outside with out sneezing our heads off? I started Zyrtec this weekend, it seems to be helping.
Keep walking, FJ. It helps. Isabel appreciates it, too. :-)
p.s. I said goodbye to my 16 year old Border Collie, Little Jerry Seinfeld, last January. It was rough.
(((nicrap)))
...bet ya didn't expect another one! ;)
Thanks again, y'all!
lol. You guys really made my day.
And, no, i hadn't expected another one. Thank you, fj! :)
It's still warm here. Guess we are in for a really cold winter this year.
